On 2nd December 1993 Ustica Lines starts its activities of high speed passenger transport by sea on the route “Napoli – Ustica – Favignana – Trapani” and “Trapani - Pantelleria – Kelibia”.
In the course of the years the company increases constantly the number of hydrofoils and catamarans (with foils) and starts new lines in the whole Mediterranean.
The company gets awarded numerous tenders from the Sicilian government for the execution of regular lines connecting Sicily with its minor islands. In 2004 acquires the Aeolian sector of high speed sea transport from the maritime company SNAV. In 2007 the company decides to widen its activities with the transport of merchandise with vessels roro/cargo and roro/pax.
The fleet, subject to severe preventive maintenance and continuous controls by Bureau Veritas, consists of 25 high speed vessels, 2 roro/cargo vessels, 2 roro/pax vessels, 1 ferryboat. Furthermore, the company has under construction 12 new monohulls HSC with the shipyard Air Naval of Torre Annunziata (Naples) with delivery between 2010 and 2014.
Actually, Ustica Lines employs on average 360 people, divided between seamen and administrative staff.
In 2009 transported approximately 1.500.000 passengers.
The company applies the Safety Management System procedure (“SMS”) and is in the possession of the ISM Certificate.
